Subversion is used to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. When I'm working with a project team at school, we're working with Tortoise SVN. This SVN application is very useful to share files & folders in a Windows shell. If another team member screws up your source code, you can easily revert to a previous version. It really looks like the Time Machine on Mac OSX.
The only downside to this, is that SVN can be pretty hard setting up. You'll need to have knowledge about SSH and understand UNIX. Most people don't have this knowledge and that's where Dropbox kicks in.
Simply drag your files to your shared folder on your computer and everyone who you invite will be able to share the files. This way, you can simply share pictures, collaborate in a project and much more!
Currently, Dropbox is still beta. You can use this application when you're invited so guess what: Leave a comment that you want an invite and I'll be glad to send you one. Of course, this is totally free of charge.
UPDATE: I'm sorry to tell you, I'm out of Dropbox invites! Tags: dropbox tools application handy beta |

Graffiti (or spray paint) often regarded by others as unsightly damage or unwanted vandalism. But some times, the boring wall is supplied with a true piece of graffiti art, making it a joy for the eyes. A new game from Atari, Getting Up, is based on tagging.
I made a collection of pictures showing these fine spray paint creations. By looking at them and studying the details, you could boost your (Photoshop) design inspiration. If you're not in to design, just sit back and enjoy this amazing form of art.
Please take note that I'm not showing any graffiti tags or space spray paint in this article. Those can be pretty inspiring too. Tags: graffiti art photoshop design inspiration

Motion typography (or kinetic typography) refers to the art and technique of expression with animated text. Expressing yourself through animated words with graphics can be really convincing and cool to see. Flying, floating, growing, expanding, turning characters is what you'll see in the next minutes.
I've selected 15 very nice motion typography movies. Some are more breathtaking than others, but they're all outstanding. They all know how to use typography very well and it'll be a joy for your eyes, although some will be really fast.
You can get a massive design inspiration kick just by watching these videos. I wouldn't mind if real film starters or music videos in the future will be like this.
If you want to create such a movie on your own, you can try Adobe After Effects or SWiSH Max. Tags: motion typography video fun art
