Google's mail service, better known as Gmail, has a nice feature called keyboard shortcuts. This way, you can simply use your keyboard to navigate fast trough your Gmail account. I created this cheat sheet with they keyboard shortcuts from Gmail and what they do. Print it and put it next to your PC, you'll never forget an shortcut again.

Visualize audio bars by using amplitude in Flash

The new Actionscript 3.0 in Flash CS3 can be a bit tricky sometimes, especially when you're normally used to Actionscript 2.0. But there are a number of nice new functions in AS 3.0 which make it really attractive to just make it your coding standard for Flash.

Here I'll explain how to use the leftPeak and rightPeak properties of AS 3.0. With these, you can read the volume of both audio channels (left and right) seperately. With that value, you can create some nice Flash files, like this visual audio bar.

Illusion of a 3d dragon

Dragon Illusion

A couple of days ago a friend of me showed me this dragon. At first it wasn't really anything special, untill the moment he said to watch to the dragon and close one eye. When I started to move around, still keeping one eye on the dragon, I saw something really cool; It was as if the dragon was following my every move.

The thing that I mostly like about this, is that it's very easy to create. Just print the dragon and stick it to some firm paper. After letting it dry, cut the dragon out of the paper and assemble it using the tabs and there you have it. Your own optical illusion.

You'll keep on watching to this dragon, just put it on your desktop or something.

Create a valid CSS alert message

Ever came across an alert message on a webpage that has some nice CSS styling to it? Personally I modified this one to create an quote-box, to use it on this website. Here's an example:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet

There is a small valid CSS code behind this one, but it is very nice to use on your website.

Create a custom page title in Joomla 1.0.x
One of the most importart SEO factors there days is the ability to setup unique page titles whic reflect the content of each page. In Joomla 1.0.x this can be a little bit tricky, because it has a standard way of creating a page title.

There are a lot of tools (Artio, OpenSEF) that can create dynamic page titles, but they do more than you want. You just want control over the titles.

If you make these small amount of changes in the Joomla source code, the title will be created from the "Title Alias" that you fill in your back-end panel.
