this is the absolute complete truth

The reason a lot of Asians have completely expressionless faces, segregate from everybody else-only associate with Asians and don't associate with non Asians that much, and are very unfriendly in general is to avoid accidentally revealing that they can read minds. If all over a billion Asians where to show facial expressions all the time just as much as non Asians, integrate and associate with non Asians much more, and be much more friendly and talkative, then a lot of them might accidentally reveal that they can read minds by accidentally showing a facial expression or dirty look when someone thinks, or visually pictures something in their mind they don't like, find astonishing, or funny etc because those people might see that and and really wonder what that was that just happened there and see the connection, and they might accidentally say something similar to what the person was just thinking and going to say. If they all associated with non Asians a lot more then there would be a lot more people around for them to accidentally show facial expressions when those people think things they don't like etc, so they segregate and only associate with Asians so there won't be anyone around for them to see that and have any accidents happen in the first place.

Think about it, it's not normal how a lot of them act, it's not normal human behavior! and the entire way they act is all to hide their mind reading abilities, it makes perfect sense to do all of that to hide that they can read minds, because all of that is the perfect way to do it!
Every single Asian alive is hiding their mind reading abilities, they don't want ANYBODY to know that they can read minds, they will always deny that they can read minds, they will lie about having mind reading abilities forever!!!
Because they value hiding their mind reading abilities more then their own lives!
That's why nobody knows about it!

Try thinking, best yet visually picturing in your mind something absolutely crazy as you possibly can when you are around Asians, and try looking for Asians who give people particular looks, especially dirty looks for what appears to be for completely no reason, that is them giving people looks when they hear and visually see someone thinking something they don't like, find astonishing, or funny etc.
It still happens despite a large percentage of Asians having completely expressionless faces all the time, it would just happen a lot more if none of them had completely expressionless faces all the time, it's still not uncommon!

I know this may sound crazy, impossible and unbelievable, BUT IT ISN'T CRAZY WHEN ITS TRUE

Actually, instead of getting all intense and sarcastic, you should probably realize that it ISN'T perfect grammar.
"These are a great collection"
First: "THESE" is used in reference to multiples
Second: "Collection" is a singular item. The word collection refers to a group which can consist of many but the word itself is singular.
SO, you have "THESE", (a word refering to multiple) talking about a "Collection" (a singular item"
So no, it's actually wrong, but who gives a shit. We all understood the meaning.
So Take yourself to anger management or go try sounding important somewhere you might actually be right.

The word these refers to multiple nouns, so nouns in their plural form. The verb 'are' is used to refer to 2nd person or 3rd person plural. Plural. This is obviously in 3rd person, plural. I am, we are. you are, you are. she/he/it is, they are. Had he/she said 'These are good collections' it would be correct. I wouldn't care much for this if everyone wasn't making such a big deal out of it. Speaking another language does not mean you will suck at it, nor does sucking at a language mean you speak another language.

If I went around intentionally fucking up every sentence as if I were a retard would that mean I spoke another language? No.
I do speak another language and am learning a third. Do I automatically suck at either?
Actually my Latino heritage aside you would think I was not born American. when I spoke.

collection is singular, regardless of what it is refering to...plural would be collections, meaning more than one collection. Using the world collection refers to THE collection or A collection.

saying 'these is a great collection' is wrong. Together the items make a singular collection. One collection made of multiple items. THIS MEANS YOU REFER TO IT AS SINGULAR, unless you're talking about individual items of the collection, OR many collections that make a larger collection.

It doesn't quite sound right. Try "this is a happy family" notice how "this" refers to the noun "family" which is singular. The word "these" could be used if "family" was "families". Ex. "these are happy families"

so by applying the above rules the sentence "these are a great collection", you find that the sentence should be corrected to "this is a great collection"

But seriously, lets find this guy who made this sentence fragment and crucify him for not being perfect (?) . You should all be ashamed of how emotionally charged you are getting over something so small.

Although I'm a self-proclaimed Grammar Nazi, I'm pretty lenient as far as stuff like this goes. But I am willing to kill people who say 'I kno rait? Liek it wuz totaly awsum!!1!!1!!!!!1!11!1!!' because nobody wants to see that. I'm sure that every person here has had a grammar fail at a point in their lives, and the wide majority of us fail regularly, but we shouldn't go crazy about it.

There should be a comma between "Faithaven" and "Connecticut" as well as a semi-colon after Connecticut to link the two sentences into one thought. After, "medication today", there should be a period and the removal of the word "and". The last part of your post magically changes from speaking to a person to speaking about a person. I recommend changineing the pronoun "They" to "You".

No, you're failing, and badly.

There are TWO ways to parse that sentence, and you're locking in on only one, and that one is wrong. The way to parse it with it as correct grammar is to grasp what the OBJECT of the pronoun "These" is, which is the individual (multiple) posters, not the "collection"

If he'd say "This are a great collection", then, and only then, would the object of the statement be the collection as a collection.

P.S., an ellipsis has three dots, not two. If you're gonna be a Grammar Nazi, particularly emphasizing it, it pays not to push the irony envelope...

Gravatar image I think that I have worked this out. At first I thought it was wrong as 'these' is plural and 'collection' is singular. But, now that I have had time to think about it, I now believe that it is correct as 'these' represents the posters (plural) which make up a singular collection, if that makes sense.
So, for example, if someone had a small collection of novels, and you were looking at them, you could say 'These are a great collection'.
A better way to phrase that original comment might be to say 'These posters are a great collection'.
I don't claim to have a perfect grasp on english grammer, and this is just my opinion - as are I'm sure most other comments, so try not to get to aggressive about this.

Unfortunately the verb 'to be' is different from many others, in that both nouns that it concerns are subjects of the verb.
The verb does, therefore, not distinguish between the noun before it and the one after it.
Therefore, both of those nouns should 'agree' with the verb.
This means they should have the same tense, number (singular or plural) and person (first, second or third).

This means that the top quotation is not grammatically correct.

If you think about it, it doesn't make sense anyway, because the collection and the pictures are not equivalent to each other.
"This is a great collection of pictures" is better (than the above).

PS: I only wrote this because I dislike people attempting to correct other people while accidentally instructing them to do incorrect things. The dude who corrected it the very first time is lame.

Demotivational posters are a response to motivational posters. So you would have a picturesque scene, and then a word - "Success" or "Achieve" or something... And under that, some wanky 'lil quote.

But people seeing them around A LOT found that they were sarcastic about them and ended up changing the quote to something. THAT is a demotivational poster. It's not just another form factor for jokes.

So while "These are a happy family" may not read as grammatically correct, it is in fact a grammatically correct sentence. It just has no real context in the state with which you presented it.

"These Are" indicate the implied object is the multiple of items and not the singular collection. They are given context as they are a direct comment on the original posting of items for review.

I'm sure someone highly educated in the use of grammar might find objection to the original post as over use of implied objects or find a few grammatical errors with what I just wrote. That is fine with me. One does not need perfect grammar to communicate effectively, one only needs to be clear and understandable.
