I must admit, the first time I was too quick on the trigger and un-installed it after not getting it to work right away. I then gave it a second chance, and this time I right-clicked to check the RMB menu if there was one. Indeed it was (d\'oh). I could turn off the sound there, and IT WORKED! I use Opera and it works flawlessly. I never had any ads with this during several years of use. But recently, flashmute does not work anymore on my system for an unknown reason, I am looking for something else. I was being a bit over-cautious but ended up using it after all, and I have had no issues with it since.
