Hi,

Simply copy the code above and change \"LOGIN\" to your e-mail address. Next, change \"PASSWORD\" with your password. Save it as a bookmark / favorite and you\'re ready to go!

Greetings,,,

Like the article said, the password is indeed located on your computer as plain text. When send, it\'s not plain text anymore.

The only problem here is, that if anyone knows that you\'re using this technique, they could open your bookmarks and read the not-encrypted password.

Hi. Thanks for posting this up. Works great for my gmail account.

But, try as I might, I can\'t figure out how to plug the login and password stuff into a bookmark to do the same for my igoogle home page. And did I try - I\'m amazed google hasn\'t locked me out! Best I could get was the sign in page with a red \"not at this time\" message at the password field.

Can you help me build an automatic sign in bookmark, if possible, for igoogle?

Thanks!!

You should check the names of the elements, just like my URL in the article.

Replace \"Email\" and \"Passwd\" to the names of the elements (check the HTML source) and make modifications where needed.

Good luck!

https://www.google.com/a/YOURDOMAIN/LoginAction2?continue=http://mail.google.com/a/YOURDOMAIN/a/&service=mail&Email=LOGIN&Passwd=PASSWORD&null=Sign+in

I use a web application with a button called email. When the user clicks on it, it opens up a new window and I use the link from above to have their email automatically open. This works great in internet explorer but for some reason it does not work exactly the same in Firefox. When the user clicks on the button in FireFox, it will take them to the google login page and place their username in the box, but not login automatically. If they click on the address bar and then hit enter it will then log them into gmail. I am not sure why it stops in FireFox and the extra step is needed. I don\'t want them to be able to see the information in the address bar because everyones password is the same for purposes of the link working in my web app. Sorry if this doesn\'t make complete sense but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If you have multiple GMail accounts, and you recently logged into one of them, this bookmark will not log you into another. I\'ve hacked at this slightly and written a URL that will log you out of one GMail account and then into another.

You can read the details at the URL below.

http://www.joeldare.com/wiki/google_gmail_bookmark_that_logs_in

Or, just use this:

https://www.google.com/accounts/Logout?continue=https%3a%2f%2fwww.google.com%2faccounts%2fServiceLoginAuth%3fcontinue%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fmail.google.com%2fgmail%26service%3dmail%26Email%3dUSER%26Passwd%3dPASS%26null%3dSign%2bin

Anonymous again... I found that the problem is with the GALX form value with some help from http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/16341. If I grab the current GALX value and append my bookmark with it my bookmark works but this bookmark will not work cross-browser nor cross-session. Programmatically GALX can be read from an XMLHttpRequest response or a cookie but this cannot be done within a bookmark. I predict the auto login bookmark is broken for good. :(

Okay, so I found an alternative solution using iMacros Addon for Firefox.

Here are the steps:

o1. Download Firefox.
o2. Download iMacros Addon for Firefox:

      https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3863

o3. Install the Addon.
o4. Restart Firefox.
o5. Click on the new Iopus iMacros icon next to your address bar. This should open the iMacros sidebar.
o6. Click on the Rec Tab in the iMacros sidebar.
o7. Click the Record button to start recording your movements.
o8. Navigate to iGoogle login entry page. It should be the link below:

https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?continue=http://www.google.com/ig&followup=http://www.google.com/ig&service=ig&passive=true&cd=US&hl=en&nui=1&ltmpl=default

o9. Type in your User Name, and then your Password.
10. Click Sign In
11. Go back into iMacros sidebar and click on the Stop button, to stop the recording.
12. If it asks you to save the recording, just click save in the default area.
13. Now you should see a new macro in your iMacros sidebar.
14. Right click on it and select Add To Bookmark
15. Now right click on your new bookmark and select properties.
16. Copy the data in the \"Location:\" area.
17. Now set that location as your homepage.

You can further edit your macro by adding these lines at the top of the macro to get rid of some error messages.
