Or, even easier...

Install Linux. Or don\'t be a retard by going to websites and then installing whatever tries to be downloaded on your computer.

www.ubuntu.com Ubuntu is as simple as Windoze but offers the security of Linux (and the newest version has some pretty sweet eyecandy with it too).

Another way to help is installing NoScript in addition to AdBlock for Firefox.

Yeah, you\'re right about that part.

Ubuntu is really cool (I have it on my laptop too on a split partition), but not ready yet for the \"avarage user\".

The best thing really is, just to look out what you\'re doing ;). If you don\'t know what you\'re doing, you could try the \"hosts\" file :)

Good advice

The hosts file may be good, but at the end of the day it can never block ALL the bad servers. Your computer\'s safety really depends on you. I have used Windows for over 6 years and never had a virus / spyware problem even by using just a free set of security tools. Now I am using Ubuntu full time and it does rock!
Marco - I do think Ubuntu is ready for the average user now, at least the version 7.10 is. It is perfectly suitable for everyone except gamers.
