I found this post through my blogrush widget. It's a list of comparisons of Girls with Windows and Boys with Linux. I think it's pretty funny if you think about it.

Boys, girls, Windows and Linux

Oh, and if you have a girlfriend, don't compare her with Windows. She'll not like it.

Girls and Windows

  • Both have a great UI.
  • Both consume large resources and do less work.
  • Both crash unexpectedly.
  • Both are not easily portable on different architectures (environment).
  • Both can't work on low resource architectures (environment).
  • Both are costly to maintain.
  • Both give mostly unexpected outputs.
  • Both their working often contradicts with their documentation.
  • Both are easily prone to viruses (rumors and doubts) and they (viruses) do spread very fast in windows based networks.
  • In spite of all above disadvantages, both are liked.

Boys and Linux

  • Both have an average UI.
  • Both are robust.
  • Both are highly secure.
  • Both can be easily modified to support new concepts/features.
  • Both are efficient.
  • Both are easily portable to any architecture (environment) no matter how low the resources are.
  • You can easily guess the output for your input (in Linux just open its code, for boys they are mostly transparent by nature).
  • Both provide large support for development (work environment).
  • Both are poorly documented.

Can you think of anything else that should be on this list?

Gravatar image this is pretty sexist and degrading towards women. I mean... seriously. Women don't work as hard and have a great UI? Men are easily modified and more efficient? Come on now. I can name 50 people I know that are the opposite of this. In fact, for many points, they could be reversed. Women are of course high maintenance, but as far as portability is concerned. Well my girlfriends always say that they can't take me anywhere.

Gravatar image Now a days is very often found people to point to facts for any reason that saw on internet, and the sense of humor is changing for an infinite world of opinions. So please have a sense to see a joke, smile and go on. Many womans already see this post and she said "fine is just an opinion in a joke" they are pretty smart!!!

Both are open-source(Open to all, anyone can use and manipulate them for free)

Addition to Girls:

Both are proprietary and closed source (You have to pay heavy licensing fees to get them and once you get them you still have to continuously pay for updates and patches)

Gravatar image I think people are confusing Linux fanboys with geeks... I am a linux fanyboy, NOT a geek (I can;t code for a start...). Geeks live in caves with no ocntact with the real world (mum doesn;t count!), Linux fanboys, while many happen to be geeks, aren't NECESSARILY geeks...

I agree with the last part. Women and men are the same.

This article is not intended to look "degrading" or whatever. It's just created to show the stereotype things from girls, Windows, boys and Linux.

Do you think I'm happy with my "average UI"?

I really don't get this. It's very wrong and rude to call black people niggers (I agree on this) - but it's perfectly fine to go gay-bashing?

Does it make you feel more masculine to openly demonstrate just how backwards and narrow-minded you are ?

It's not a binary division here, you can actually accept that people are different from you without necessarily indulging in the same activities as they do.
